Combined Organization Overview
The Bristol NHS trust has merged and is now officially called Bristol NHS Foundation Trust. Audiology is fully included in this newly formed, combined organization, offering seamless care for hearing and balance across various locations in the region.
The merged trust delivers Audiology services across several main sites, including:
- St Michael's Hospital (main adult audiology centre)
- Brunel Building at Southmead Hospital (Gate 36, Level 1)
- Weston General Hospital
- Various community satellite clinics (e.g., Cossham, South Bristol Community Hospital)
Referrals to NHS Audiology
GP Referrals:
- Will look in your ears, ask about hearing and other symptoms.
- May perform a tuning fork test or whisper test.
- Note: They may not ask where you’d like to go for a hearing test.
ENT Referrals:
- Both NHS and private ENT can refer directly to audiology.
- ENT referrals are appropriate for: Tinnitus, balance issues, and hearing aids.
